let's just face the whole fact that we got a silver
maybe we just arent good enough
hwa chong has set the gwh standard
u know we cant touch anywhere near them

& let's stop saying

IF ONLY ours wasnt before them
if only this and if only that

it wont change a damn thing
the results are final
we arent the only sad bands

there are so many out there who are so sad

and even to be in a much worse state than us
like raffles
nanyang girls and swiss cottage
gold bands which dropped to silver

we were alr a silver band
let's at least be abit thankful to mantain our medal

what matters is we know where we stand,
and that's what matters most.

and to me,
now,
ive learnt more than what we've all been whining about

ive learnt that syf isnt about the medal

i think a band shouldn't be defined as medal
there so many bands who got silver this year,
the range is so big.
well, who can really tell who's better?

and the next important thing is what we've learnt in this journey,
in this 2 months,
the last minute change from eagle bend to flying high.

remember the first time we were given Flying High score
jaws dropped
and sight-reading was at its worst

our band director chose eagle bend for us,
we weren't really given the chance to choose for ourselves,
we didnt even get to try.

we went to hongkong with a grade 3.5 eagle bend
oh i wonder how the conductor there could tolerate us
i swear that song suck
keeps on repeating the main melody
so sick

i know you've learnt alot for eagle bend in hongkong during tutorings
i know some of you are quite dissatisfied we changed to flying high
because all the many things uve learnt
and thought that its all going to waste

but listen, it didnt.

it helped in flying high, didnt it
yes it did
i can say that confidently

and it was only yesterday
when the brasses were still figuring out the fingerings
and practising on the pitching

and the percussionists were scared of playing out,
worried they might drown the band

and oh my ..
the woodinds.
running notes with sharp notes
and accidentals?
u guys did a VERY VERY BAD JOB at the start

flying high was an earsore because of you

but what about now?

the brasses are awesome,
the percussionists learnt to balance,
the woodwinds,
gahh....
ive never heard running notes coming out so beautifully from you

serious, im really proud.

i dont care about some medal anymore.
we all shouldnt.

what matters is what we've learnt
and the journey we went through

the fatigue
and tears during stressful practices

we have brought jvcb to a higher level
and we will continue doing that,
training our juniors since its our last syf.

the choice is yours, ive said my piece.
but please take my words into consideration.

EVERYONE,
LET'S JUST DROP THIS MATTER HERE AND NOW.
